From process to product

For each project that the KMS&T team undertakes, the instructional design process is implemented. These steps are dynamic and interactive, rather than linear. (Don't worry. We don't forget the vision piece: "Nothing happens unless first a dream." (Sandburg))

  • Analyze business and educational goals of products
  • Analyze target audience/user analysis
  • Communicate results to client to determine next step
  • Revise analyses as appropriate
  • Review all appropriate standards, to include key state standards, National
  •  Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) standards, TESOL standards (as appropriate), English language standards (national and international), and content standards (national and international)
  • Create integrated cross-functional teams
  • Initiate high level design
  • Develop design specifications for technology and content
  • Create schedule for internal/external communication and reviews
  • Present high level design and gather client/team review comments
  • Revise high level design
  • Develop technical specifications for database, servers, shell, target browsers and computers
  • Design overall schema and look and feel of product
  • Initiate detailed design
  • Design product components and specifications
  • Begin development: programming, art, media, content, animation
